2010 Murdoch University Careers Fair
Careers Fair Day - Wednesday 3 March 2010
Murdoch University is once again hosting its annual Careers Fair. The Fair has the potential for your organisation to reach several thousand future employees and clients. The success of last year's Fair and the feedback we have received from students and employers who participated has encouraged us to again offer this valuable opportunity to you as an employer.
Events like this open up a wealth of opportunities for students to explore the career options available to them in the Public and Private Sectors while affording them a chance to discuss face to face what employers are looking for during the Graduate Recruitment and employment process. With over 70 disciplines represented at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, there is potential exposure to over 10,000 students on any given day from a very diverse range of fields.
Employer Registration: From here you can access an online Registration Form. You will receive a return email confirming your registration and details. Registration applications close 2 February 2010.
Cost
The cost of the booth space will be $350.00 plus GST
This includes:
- 1 trestle table
- 2 pin-up boards
- 2 chairs
- lunch for 4 booth attendants
- sundowner function
Payment
Payment for your Registration will be invoiced.
Career Fair Schedule
9am – 11am : Arrival & set-up
11am – 11.30am : Lunch delivered
11.30am – 2.30pm : Fair
2.30pm – 3.00pm : Stand pack-up
2.30pm - 4.00pm : Sundowner
Venue
The 2010 Careers Fair will be held for the first time indoors in the Sport and Recreation Centre’s Gymnasium. (Printable map of Murdoch University.)
Parking
Parking will be available for one car per employer in CarPark 4, with additional parking available in CarPark 7. map
Arrival Instructions
Arrival times are between 9.00am and 11.00am with all booths to be set up by 11.00am.
For those arriving by Taxi: You will be met at the front of the Chancellery Building, located at the top of Carpark 3, by representatives of the Careers and Employment Centre and assisted to your stall location.
For those arriving by car: You will be met at Carpark 4, near the entrance to the Gymnasium building.
All helpers on the day will be wearing distinctive red t-shirts.
The Fair officially starts at 11.30am
Pack-Up
The Fair officially ends at 2.30pm with an hour set aside to assist you with packing up your stall. Our helpers will be available to help you carry equipment to your car.
Facilities
The following equipment will be provided for you on the day:
- 1 standard size trestle table (1.5m in length)
- 2 chairs
- 2 Pin-up boards
Power
Power will be available to all booths.
Refreshments
- Lunch and snacks will be provided
- Complimentary bottled water and tea & coffee will be available throughout the day.
- Sundowner Function
Signage
If bringing your own signage it should not exceed 2m in width. All signage must be removed at the end of the day.
Advanced Delivery
Bulk literature supplies for your stand can be forwarded in advance:
- Mark items clearly with the name of your company and the number of items sent (e.g., 1 of 5 boxes)
- Contact careers@murdoch.edu.au prior to delivery stating details of delivery including expected method, date and number of items.
- Delivery times are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
(all advanced deliveries must be received by close of business on Friday 19th February 2010.)

Internet Access
Internet access for email checking will be available during the day in the Resource Library of the ACE centre. You will NOT have internet access at your stall.
Emergency Information
If an emergency occurs at or near your stall, please call campus security on 9360 6222.
In case of a medical emergency please call 9360 7333.

Sundowner Function
Towards the end of the day we will be hosting a sundowner for all fair attendees. This function will be an excellent opportunity to unwind at the end of the day, enjoy some Murdoch hospitality with nibbles and refreshments, and network with staff and volunteers from the Careers & Employment Centre. You will also have the opportunity to meet some senior Murdoch University executive staff and Presidents of key Student Associations at Murdoch University.
Taxis
If you will require a taxi at the completion of the day there will be a booking facility run through the ACE centre.
Fair Programme
We will be producing a Fair Programme that students will be able to use on the day and to take away for future reference. We ask that all Fair participants complete the relevant sections in the Registration Form at the time of Registering. The word count this year will be strictly 1500 characters (approx. 250 words) or less.
