The Murdoch e-Mentoring Network
The Murdoch e-Mentoring Network is an e-Mentoring facility and career development information sharing space exclusive to both current Murdoch students and alumni (graduates). This service can be accessed via the professional network site, Linked-in (linkedin.com).
The function and purpose of the Murdoch e-Mentoring Network Linked-in group is summarized below:
- a free service to current Murdoch students (and recent graduates), looking to transition to the workplace and commence their professional careers;
- a network of Murdoch students and alumni (graduates) established in industry, providing a forum for the sharing of information and experiences relevant to career development and;
- a means of engaging in both open group discussions as well as one-to-one Linked-in messaging via “Send a message” (i.e. e-Mentoring) between an e-Mentee (i.e. Student) and his/her nominated e-Mentor (i.e. Alumni established in industry).
Interested participants simply need to;
- Familiarize themselves with the following “Introductory User Guide” and “Group Rules” documents.

- Go to the Linked-in website “linkedin.com” and create a public profile (or amend current profile according to our recommendations below):
- your Linked-in profile should be professional and not contain any information that would not be suitable for a resume;
- for privacy purposes we recommend that your profile does not contain any details in the “Personal Information” section and;
- the words “Murdoch e-Mentor” feature in the “Summary” section of all e-Mentor (alumni) profiles, enabling e-Mentees (i.e. students) to search e-Mentors (i.e. alumni) within the group.
- Search the Linked-in Groups Directory for “Murdoch e-Mentoring Network” and request to join.
